you should probably add some smoothing to the camera when changing directions, or put it so it always center the character, because it's a little jarring and disorienting as is

Yeah, you're right. Camera is not smooth enough. Believe me, I tried my best to make it as smooth as possible but it's tricky to achieve under such tiny resolution.
